How to enroll Medicare:

1. Enroll with the Social Security Administration in one of four ways:

a. Go to SSA.GOV or HERE (https://www.ssa.gov/medicare/sign-up). Be sure to print and/or save your confirmation page.
b. Visit your local Social Security office. Be sure to ask for a written receipt.
c. Call Social Security at 800-772-1213. Be sure to get a reference number for the call, or the name of the representative, the time,
and the date of the call.
d. Mail a signed and dated letter to Social Security with your name, Social Security number, and the date (must be the first of the
month) you’d like for your Medicare to begin. Send it certified mail and request a return receipt.

2. Once your Parts A and B have been processed and you have your Medicare number, you can choose one of a few different paths to avoid future penalties. It is advisable to speak with a licensed agent to explore the options, which are broadly as follows:

a. Maintain only your Parts A and B. Doing so will leave you exposed to significant exposure to the percentage of medical costs that the government does not cover. In most circumstances, you will, however, still need to enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan.
b. Enroll in a supplemental plan to complement your Part A and Part B to cover the exposure to the percentage of medical costs that the government does not cover. In most circumstances, you will still need to enroll in a Part D prescription drug plan as well.
c. Enroll in a Medicare Advantage(MA) plan. These are Medicare-approved private companies that follow the rules of Medicare. Most MA plans will include Part D prescription drug coverage. MA plans use health care providers in the plan’s network and will set a limit on out-of-pocket costs each year for covered services.
If you already have Part A and just want to enroll in Part B, you can fill out form CMS-40B (https://www.ssa.gov/benefits/medicare/#anchor6)
