MEDICARE ADVANTAGE, also called Part C, are private plans. These plans are administered by non-government health insurance companies that have contracted with the federal government to provide Medicare recipients with Part A and Part B benefits.

These plans are an alternative to Original Medicare and, in addition to providing Part A and B benefits, will frequently bundle other benefits in their plans, such as Part D prescription drug coverage, vision, dental, hearing, and gym memberships. Although costs of such plans can vary, many are available for only the cost of the Part B premium and may have lower out-of-pocket costs than Original Medicare.

What’s the difference between a Medigap policy and
Medicare Advantage?

While both are offered by private companies, a Medigap policy simply supplements the costs of your Original Medicare (Part A and B) benefits while a Medicare Advantage plan provides you with the services of Parts A & B, while including additional benefits beyond those of Original Medicare.
