Medicare Part A (Hospital Care):

Services covered are generally:

• Inpatient care in a hospital
• Skilled nursing facility
• Hospice care
• Home health care (some)

In 2023, costs associated with Part A are:

• Premium – most people don’t have to pay a monthly premium because either they or a spouse paid Medicare taxes while they were working for at least 40 quarters.
• Deductible –
• Inpatient hospital stay – $1,600 for each benefit period; coinsurance of $0 per day for days 1-60 for each benefit period; coinsurance of $400 per day for days 61-90 for each benefit period; coinsurance of $800 per day for days 91 and beyond of each benefit period, up to your total lifetime reserve days (60 days for your lifetime)
• Skilled nursing facility – $0 per day for days 1-20 for each benefit period; coinsurance of $200 per day of each benefit period for days 21-100
• Hospice care – $0 for hospice care
• Home health care – $0 for covered home health care services
